Aaron Keller, the Game Director for Overwatch 2, has put out a blog post going over map balance and changes coming in future seasons, including the removal of Map Pools for Season 4!
Season 3 launches February 7th, and will still have Map Pools. The reason for Map Pools being removed is likely because Blizzard is working on changes to some of the maps to improve gameplay for 5v5.
