They say that no news is good news, but in this case no news is really just a bit boring so let’s see what we can talk about.
In between farming for Artifact Power and desperately hoping for the Legendary Mantle to drop, why not pop over to Ravenholdt Discord and join in the rogue conversation?
Many people have very similar questions about how to play and set up their rogues, and in response Stjern has put together a collection of helpful resources and the answers to frequently asked questions. This compilation is updated and lives permanently on Ravenholdt Discord in the #resources-and-faq channel but we have a version here for your perusal. If you have rogue questions, save yourself some time and check this out before asking.
A few good resources:
If you need a comprehensive guide, Stjern and Yazuki have you covered:
Due to the way that secondary stats are set up at the moment, some questions are hard to answer for individual rogues and you may find yourself getting the frunstrating “sim yourself” response. If you get this response, people are not blowing you off, it really is the correct answer. If you need help, check out these links:
Some of the most asked questions and their answers:
Q: What spec is best?
A: All of our specs are viable. Different specs will shine for you depending on a lot of variables like fight type, gear, legendaries, etc. Because of all of the variables it’s impossible to answer this question definitively and thus these answers are debatable. Most rogues are currently playing Assassination for progression.
Q: What are my stat weights for X spec/Pawn?
A: Stat weights are specific to your character’s current talents, gear, stats, etc. If you’d like accurate stat weights to put into something like Pawn, please use SimulationCraft to generate your own. Remember, you will need to update your weights somewhat often for accurate gearing suggestions. General use stat weights can be found in Stjern’s Guide.
Q: Is there a BiS list for X spec?
A: Because of the Warforged/Titanforged system and sockets, BiS lists are essentially obsolete. We recommend simming yourself to find the best gear for you, check the How To Sim Yourself guide.
Q: Who are the best followers?
Q: What’s the best race?
A: Whichever one you like the best. Unless you’re doing bleeding edge progression, racial bonuses don’t make any worthwhile difference.
Enchantments and consumables:
Q: What are the best enchants?
- Neck: Mark of the Hidden Satyr
- Cloak: Binding of Agility (Cheap Cloak: Word of Agility)
- Ring: Depends on spec and personal stat weights. Sim yourself.
Q: What are the best gems?
- Saber’s Eye of Agility or +150 secondary stat gems depending on your sims
Q: What are the best consumables?
- Flask: Flask of the Seventh Demon
- Potion: Potion of the Old War
- Food: Stat food, choose whatever stat is highest valued for you.
Artifact Weapons & Relics:
Q: How should I level my artifact weapons?
All specs are viable currently. The safest pick is Assassination, as it is powerful for progression and is in general the most stable spec. That being said, if you like playing either of the other specs then you are perfectly good doing so.
