And here we are with another special Classic Hardcore death. This one has a couple of funny-sad aspects to it, not the least of which is getting killed by the NPC you’re helping out in the quest.
One of the best and most well-known quest chains in Classic/Vanilla is the one culminating with the “In Dreams” quest, which ends with a fight between Tirion Fordring and the Scarlet Crusade, including a pretty powerful elite/boss mob. The quest is actually fully doable without ever engaging with the Scarlet Crusade mobs, as Tirion will take care of them himself eventually, you just need to stand back.
Well, NamagoDota, despite knowing you can just stand back and watch the quest complete, decided to heroically help Tirion and the result was… bad. The video starts with a very apt and funny comment: “bored of being 60, I decided to play recklessly and give Tirion a hand“. And unlike some players that really do suicide their level 60ies for fun, NamagoDota very much did not intend what happened next.
While it gets pretty hairy at points, the Mage seems to get things under control and it looks like they can pull out a win… until:
The audio is also particularly on point at the moment of death, and the video title is hilarious as well. So the lesson is, uh… don’t mess with Tirion, and don’t help him either!
