Final Fantasy 16, the latest installment in the popular RPG series from Square Enix, has just received a free update that adds new features and improvements to the game.
Producer Naoki Yoshida, also known for Final Fantasy 14, has confirmed that two paid DLC expansions and a PC port are in development.
Here is everything important to know about the announcements:
The latest update, patch 1.10, is available to download now on PS5. It adds alternate outfits for characters such as Clive, Jill, and Torgal. Players can change their costumes from the main menu.
The update also adds the option to change the appearance of Clive’s sword without affecting its stats or performance. Additionally, players can choose from different sword skins, including the Onion Sword, which is a homage to the Onion Knight of classic Final Fantasy games. It will be redeemable for every player through the gift redeem system in the menu.
The update also makes some gameplay adjustments based on player feedback. For example, it reduces the cooldown time for Eikonic abilities after a successful parry, making them easier to use in combat. In addition, it also improves the aerial combos against smaller enemies, and adds cooldown details to each ability description.

Additionally, according to Yoshida, the development team has started to work on two installments of paid DLCs for Final Fantasy 16. The DLCs will expand on the story and world of Valisthea, and allow players to spend more time with its inhabitants.
Yoshida said that he received many requests from fans who wanted to see more of Valisthea’s lore and history, as well as interact with more characters and locations.
The details of the DLCs are still under wraps, but Yoshida promised that they will be revealed later this year. He also hinted that they will feature new gameplay elements and challenges for players to enjoy, and said that he hopes that the DLCs will satisfy both new and veteran fans of the series.

The update is free for all players who own Final Fantasy 16 on PS5, and can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store or from the game’s main menu. The DLCs will be sold separately as digital downloads, and will require the base game to play.
Prices and release dates of the DLCs are yet to be announced.
The PC port of Final Fantasy 16 is also in development, and will be released sometime in 2024. Yoshida said that he wanted to bring the game to PC players who have been asking for it since its launch. He also said that he would share more information about the PC port soon.
