The new combat class for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is officially announced, and it is something fresh and original! This new job, called Viper, is a dual-wielded melee DPS that can switch between two swords and a single blade!
During Fan Festival 2023 in London, Yoshi-P has announced a new combat class that will be added in Dawntrail, the next expansion, which is expected to be released in Summer 2024.
Viper is an original Final Fantasy class that never existed before. Unlike other Jobs that have always been chosen from previous Final Fantasy games, Viper is brand new and has been designed especially for Dawntrail!
This job is nothing anyone could have expected!
Viper will be a new dual-wielded Job but very different from Ninja.
Viper will be wielding two swords that can also be combined into a single weapon.
This Melee DPS (Damage Per Second) will be sharing the same dexterity melee category gear type as Ninja.
This means that Viper will use the same armor and accessories as Ninja, which are based on the dexterity attribute that affects their damage output and accuracy.
There is no required class needed to access Viper.
The only prerequisite will be to have purchased Dawntrail expansion and at least have one other Job leveled to 80.
Viper will be accessible directly at the start of Dawntrail, starting at level 80, and players will be able to immediately choose to play with it and go through the Dawntrail Main Story Quest.
The Job quest will start in Ul’dah, the city-state of gold and glory in Thanalan.
Viper is a versatile and exciting class that will offer a new way of playing Final Fantasy XIV with the pair of one-handed blades that can be combined into a single two-handed weapon in order to deal more damage. Players will be able to have fun with a very swift Job, yet able to deal impressive heavy blows when combined into a single weapon.

The second job has not been announced yet, but will be revealed during the Tokyo Fan Festival!
It has been revealed that there will also be an additional new limited Job! This 3rd job will be similar to blue mage, but no more info has been shared yet around its nature!
