This weekend’s free Dragonflight trial hasn’t quite gotten off to a great start, as we have many players reporting issues with the game, from not being able to play at all, to not having the Dragon Isles available, and significantly worse.
The free trial started yesterday, March 9th, and many players were able to play normally. However, the problems started after a while and are fairly wide-ranging. Starting with the simple Wrathion in the wrong phase issues, making the campaign quest beginning not available from the start, we continue with players completing the intro quest, but the boat not allowing them entry as they need to own the expansion. We then have players who were playing for a while normally, then logged out and found themselves being ported to Westfall or their faction capital and not able to access the Dragon Isles anymore, having lost all their Dragonflight quests. The Dracthyr are also causing more problems than regular classes it seems, with many players reporting either not being able to select them, or losing that ability after a log out.
But the true stars here are the really strange cases, like the player that was getting XP due to a bug (since you’re not supposed to be able to gain any during the trial), leveled up and promptly got their character locked:
Then we have another lock happening, when a player dared use a different boost than the one provided:
These are just the most extreme cases, but there are many threads of players simply not able to get to the Dragon Isles and experience the part of the campaign available in the trial. Blizzard support has responded to several official forum posts, but are still in the “we’re reported these issues to the team” phase. Here are some of the threads where players are discussing their issues:
Unable to access free Dragon Flight trial
No Acess to Dragonflight Trial After Already Starting
It won’t let me play Dragonflight free right now.
Can’t access dragon isle with free weekend
Cant play evoker when coming back for free trial
Hopefully all these issues can be resolved very quickly, as it’s already day 2 of the 4 day trial, ending on Sunday, March 12th.
