With Dragonriding coming to Azeroth, players can pick their preferred flight style in Patch 10.1.5.
Two flight styles are available in Patch 10.1.5, allowing you to either keep the old flying as it currently works or switch to Dragonriding whenever flying is available.
Flight Style: Static – This refers to old flying and Blizzard calls it “Static Flight Style”.
Flight Style: Dynamic – “Dynamic Flight Style” is Dragonriding. You gain access to dynamic flight abilities in areas where you can fly.
Blizzard confirmed in an interview that Dragonriding is here to stay even after Dragonflight, but they “would need to overcome some technical hurdles to make it work in the old world”. It seems the biggest issues have been resolved and we’ll see Dragonriding working in Azeroth relatively soon.
