Day 2 was an interesting one, despite the top guilds still staying out of Mythic, as we had another World First and many, many guilds getting some bosses down! We saw plenty of new faces and it was pretty refreshing, so let’s see what happened.
The day started with the top EU guilds heading straight to split raids and Mythic+ runs, and even there they were holding off on downing the final boss on Heroic so they could plan out which characters to bring to get Sarkareth’s loot. One guild didn’t really care that much about all that, as the Chinese group Qingshui went and got the World First on the Heroic Scalecommander, and on US servers to boot!
Outside the race, many regular players have been complaining about some of the new Mythic+ dungeons being a little too much, and it seems that is very much the case as even Echo struggled and got stuck for a while.
We then had the first EU guild step into Mythic, and it turned out to be a pretty big deal as that same guild proceed to dominate the day. Revolutionist grabbed the first EU kills on both Kazzara and Zaqali Assault (also snagging the World 3rd on them), and then proceeded to head to the Amalgamation Chamber. Very quickly they evened the score with the leading Nerd Crew as they took down the Chamber World 2nd and were now tied at 3/9!
They then proceeded to take on the Forgotten Experiments, but this one gave them pause, as the previous bosses took them 5 pulls at most, but the 4th seems to be a significant step up in difficulty, as we’ve now seen both Nerd Crew and Revolutionist get stuck there, with around 15 pulls each.
It was getting late and most of the EU guilds called it a night, but then in came US guild Vesper, after their splits were done, and they also came roaring through Mythic, downing Kazzara and then choosing to go for the Chamber, skipping Zaqali entirely.
The next move for Vesper was also the Experiments, as no one really wanted to take on the alternative, Rashok the Elder, as only one guild pulled the boss once and there seems to be a consensus he’s even harder. After quite a few tries, Vesper did manage to top Revolutionist’s best by about 3%, getting the bosses cumulative health down to 14%, so let’s take a look at the entire pull:
That was the best we’ve seen for today, although Liquid have been talking about possibly heading into Mythic for about half a day now, and still haven’t. If/when they or another of the top guilds do, they’ll make short work of the Experiments and possibly quite a few more bosses, as the item level (not to mention skill) gap between them and the guilds currently progressing is very large.
Meanwhile we also saw many, MANY more guilds venture into Mythic and get some kills, as the day ended with:
34 guilds with just the Kazzara kill on 1/9,
36 guilds with two kills, mostly Kazzara and Zaqali, but with some doing Amalgamation as the second instead,
14 guilds with all three “easy” bosses down: Revolutionist, Nerd Crew, Nascent, Honolulu, Vulgar, Melee Mechanics, DMG, Potent, get help, Noted, Grey, Proud Manlets, Dyslxeic and Strawberry Puppy Kisses.
We also saw the top Chinese guilds join the fray, as the Taiwanese servers they are now playing on (due to the Chinese servers being taken down) had their weekly reset, but they also headed straight into numerous splits and M+ runs.
It seems day 3 may be the one when we actually see some top guilds face Mythic bosses at last. In any case, the race is just getting started, but it’s been really great following some other guilds and seeing how the less prepared fare against these bosses, as even the best performing guild up until now, Vesper, has only done a fraction of the splits and dungeon runs the likes of Echo or Liquid have. Hopefully this encourages them to push further and finish the race as strong as they started!
